Admission as a student at CNWSMT requires an applicant
to be at least 19 years of age and possess a high school diploma
or legal equivalent (GED). In addition, all applicants must be
US citizens, or a non-citizen who has been lawfully admitted for
permanent residence.
CNWSMT welcomes a wide diversity of students from all cultural,
geographical and educational backgrounds. Applicants will be chosen
by our Admissions Office based upon academic ability, social maturity,
potential for growth and personal motivation, and a commitment
to the profession of massage therapy. Applicants will be evaluated
on their secondary school and college or trade school academic
performance, test scores, references and a personal interview.
Application Process
- Applications for admission are accepted any time throughout
the year. Students are encouraged to apply to the program as
early as possible, as enrollment is limited and classes fill
quickly.
- Applicants must submit an application form along with a $50.00
application fee. If the applicant is not accepted into the
program, CNWSMT will refund one-half of the application fee.
- Applicants must have a personal interview with a member of
the admissions committee.
- All admissions requirements, including a personal interview,
must be completed before entry into the program.
- Three letters of reference must be submitted regarding moral
character from persons unrelated to applicant and who have
known the applicant for at least one year.
- All applicants must submit documentation of having received
two massage treatments from a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT)
within the past year.
- Applicants must demonstrate the academic ability and motivation
to complete the program successfully, as well as willingness
to participate in all aspects of the school community. This
includes an openness to personal growth opportunities and inner
self-exploration. In addition, applicants must exhibit the
integrity to be an upstanding massage therapist in the community
and uphold the school’s mission and philosophy.
Immunization Requirements
In order to participate in the mandatory Community
Service portion of our program, students are required to submit
specific medical records before their class orientation. All records
comply with the standards set by St. Peter’s Hospital of
Albany, New York. Required medical forms and information on immunizations
will be sent to the student upon acceptance to the school. Any
student accepted into the program less than two weeks before the
program start date will be required to submit their medical forms
within four weeks after the first day of class.
