MODALITIES

  • Swedish Massage: This is the modality most often used by our student therapists in our clinic. It incorporates long, flowing and relaxing strokes that soothe muscles and promote relaxation.

  • The following modalities are also available in our student clinic. The ability to fulfill the request however will depend on where the student is in the program.

  • Shiatsu: A balance modality that uses Traditional Chinese Medicine as its base. Working the meridians of the body through specific points similarly to acupuncture, this form of bodywork helps to clear blocks in the meridians and restore balance in the body.

  • Myofascial Release and Unwinding: A therapeutic treatment that works with the fascia of the muscles and utilizes gentle stretching to eliminate pain and restore motion.

  • Cranial Sacral Therapy: Performed with the client fully clothed, therapist uses light touch to monitor the craniosacral rhythm and then uses delicate manual techniques to release imbalances and restrictions.

  • Medical Massage: Done in a supervised setting the therapist uses a problem-solving paradigm to work with specific problems focusing on functional outcomes. Student develops a plan of treatment with short and long term goals.

  • Polarity Therapy: Another form of energy work that incorporates holds on "Polarity Points" on the body. Developed by an osteopath, its purpose is to work with the energy fields of the body to restore balance.

  • Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT): Soft tissue manipulation that balances the central nervous system with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system.
