What’s New in Neurology?

October 20 @1:00 pm -5:00 pm

$100

4 CEUs

With Instructor William Rahner

Course Description:

Did you know that each of us makes about eighty thousand neurons each day and IQ can increase or decrease depending on activity? This seminar explores how perception, learning, and memory are intertwined to form the different reality that each one of us experiences and elaborating on the linkage between reality, emotion and muscle tone. Participants will be given access to online notes for the class as well as a demonstration of influencing the body with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. Students should wear comfortable clothing.

Learning Outcomes & Objectives:

  1. Students will be able to compare and contrast what we used to know about perception and memory with what we know now, based on the most recent research. Students will be able to demonstrate through in class exercises how procedural memory develops, and how that learning can solidify (or not depending on activity) over the following months.
  2. Understanding (and hopefully remembering) how memory works, which they can bring into their lives and the lives of their clients. Students will be able to describe how memory works from encoding to retrieval.
  3. Students will learn how to perform PNF techniques which they can use to alter their clients physical tension and therefore their emotional tension.
  4. Students will be brought up to date on the latest info on the brain in the areas of sleep, emotion, addiction, learning, perception, judgement, memory and the mind body relationship which they can use for themselves and their clients.
