1. Please describe your
practice as a Massage Therapist.
I graduated from CNWSMT in November 2002. I have a private practice in Broadalbin, NY on the Great Sacandaga Lake. I see 15-20 clients per week. The first three years I did massage on tourists visiting the area, but now I have enough regular clients that I really am unable to take on more clients.
2. What is a typical week like
for you?
I work M-F days, with evening appointments only on Tuesdays, I see 3-5 clients per day. I don’t advertise much; most of my business is from word of mouth. I just added a website and am still working on it.
3. How has your career as a
Massage Therapist impacted your life?
My health has improved dramatically since I have become aware of how stress and diet affect me mentally and physically. I have control over my schedule, who I work with, and a lot of other factors in my life now.
4. What job or career did you
have prior to becoming a Massage Therapist?
I was a behavior specialist for 15 years.
5. What inspired you to become
a Massage Therapist?
I knew for many years (before CNWSMT even existed) that I wanted to be a L.M.T. It was always within me. I am very grateful for each of my clients, I love all of them!
6. What advice would you give
to someone thinking about a career in Massage Therapy?
Be prepared to work really hard for a job you will really love. The first two years are not very financially rewarding though.
7. Estimated annual income as a Massage Therapist (not including any other sources.)
$25,000 - $40,000
