This one day workshop teaches you how to assist prenatal or newly-delivered families in massaging their newborns. After completing the course, you would be able to teach in small groups with babies and caregivers, or in large groups using role playing and hands-on practice with dolls.

You will learn to introduce caregivers and new parents to the concept and value of nurturing, systematic touch. While the program's primary focus is massaging the healthy newborn, techniques can be used for medically stable infants who have altered nervous systems from drug exposure, developmental difficulties, or birth trauma.

Course Objectives:

·            Understand early infant communication

·             Describe how to enhance the parasympathetic nervous system

·            Show awareness of touch as a powerful communication

·            Describe how to modulate touch to nurture newborns

·            Show increased awareness of current research that supports infant massage

·            Demonstrate positive proactive parenting skill of newborn massage on a doll

·            Develop plan for a Baby’s First Massage® program

You will need to bring a baby doll and receiving blanket to class. Please dress comfortably. All materials are included for class and post workshop certification program. Visit www.ETouchMassage.com to watch the video and learn more about Babys First Massage.
