Service Description

Saturday, October 17th 9am - 5pm (one hour for lunch) $175 Full title: Cupping Through the Lens of Fascia and Meridians Description: This class will touch upon 1. Scope of practice considerations for cupping therapy and communicate effectively and professionally with clients about its use. 2. Identifying absolute and relative contraindications to cupping, conduct thorough client screening, and apply sound clinical judgment during the intake process. 3. Recognizing when cupping is appropriate or inappropriate based on clinical presentation and explain the reasoning behind treatment decisions. 4. Working with the twelve major meridian pathways, their associated officials, yin or yang classification, and direction of flow throughout the body. 5. The structure and continuity of the fascial system and explain its clinical significance in massage therapy. 6. Identifying major fascial lines described in the Anatomy Trains model, including their anatomical pathways and common clinical applications. 7. Examining relationship between meridian pathways and fascial lines, including the research supporting an anatomical understanding of the meridian system. 8. Differentiating between silicone and plastic pump cups and select the appropriate type for use within an LMT's scope of practice. 9. Proper stationary, gliding, and flash cupping techniques while explaining the unique effects and mechanisms of each About the Instructor: Michael Corcoran, LMT is a graduate of CNWSMT and has been practicing since 2011. He has also been helping out in the classrooms and special events for the school since 2014. His varied educational background and credentials include: Adirondack Community College, Schenectady Community College, Thai Massage for the Table Certification, Traditional Thai Massage Certification, Ashiatsu Certification and Sacroiliac Joint Specialist Certification. Michael Corcoran is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider (AP#1003193) and is also sponsored by NCBTMB to teach New York LMTs continuing education that is accepted by the state of NY for license renewal.
