It is a 108-hours of coursework divided into three 36-hour levels (Foundations, Therapeutics & Clinical). Each level enables students to immediately incorporate Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) into their practice and ultimately offer MLD for clinical applications within the LMTs scope of practice. MLD is a very different type of bodywork that uses a soft, light touch to open lymphatic capillaries just under the surface of the skin. This gentle, repetitive and sequential method directly affects the exchange of molecular components in the blood, tissue and lymph, resulting in detoxification and nourishment of all the body’s tissue with many clinical benefits. It is a wonderful compliment to all types of bodywork. Becoming an MLD practitioner can extend the career of a massage therapist due the gentle approach which puts less strain on the therapist's back and joints. Foundations: level 1 is a 36-hour course offered over 6 online hours and 4 classroom days. It includes comprehensive anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, edema pathology and hands-on instruction in MLD technique and applications. Therapists will learn to feel the flow and rhythm of lymph under the skin and to direct and increase the lymph flow throughout the body with simple techniques and specific pathways for drainage. Upon completion of this level therapists will be qualified to offer lymph drainage therapy as part of their practice. Stay tuned for the other two parts (Therapeutics & Clinical) to be offered in 2027 & 2028.
