Saturday & Sunday July 27th & July 28th Many massage therapists agree that evidence-based practice (EBP) is the way forward for our profession. Providing evidence-based care leads to better patient outcomes, which, of course, is our ultimate goal. Attendees will learn how to use clinical reasoning framework to achieve better outcomes in the treatment and management of clients who suffer with acute and chronic pain in the neck and shoulder regions. After this course learners will have a solid understanding of current research and the best hands on and movement practices for pain, dysfunction and common clinical presentations in the neck and shoulder regions. This information is integrated with massage, manual therapy and rehabilitation research so you can obtain more meaningful outcomes with your clients. Full Class Title: Bringing Evidence Into Practice For Neck & Shoulder Treatments Instructor Bio: Eric Purves MSc, RMT has been practicing as an RMT since 2006 when he graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. He is on the education faculty at PainBC where he teaches a course on chronic pain management. Eric runs his own education company for healthcare professionals where he has instructed over 150 workshops across the world on evidence-based practices for pain management, manual therapy, movement/exercise therapies and rehabilitation principles. Eric also maintains a massage therapy practice and is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. Eric completed his graduate studies in 2019 at the University of British Columbia where he focused on knowledge translation and the application of research evidence into healthcare practice. Eric has presented his research at numerous conferences and his articles are published in various academic and professional journals. "Eric Purves is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider and is also sponsored by NCBTMB to teach New York LMTs continuing education that is accepted by the state of New York for license renewal."
