Shiatsu Tablework: Upper Body Supine

Service Description

Sunday, July 19th 9am - 3pm $160 Please wear loose, comfortable clothing (yoga pants, athletic wear, flexible clothing) and avoid jean, belts, restrictive clothing and wired bras. Everyone must bring a set of sheets (one fitted, one flat, one pillowcase) and at least one pillow. A body pillow is also recommended. Optional is a pair of clean socks. Please also avoid perfumes or heavy fragrances. Description: This 5-hour live, in-person continuing education course provides licensed massage therapists with focused training in a complete upper-body supine Shiatsu routine adapted for the massage table. Participants will learn meridian-based compression, mobilization, stretching and positioning techniques for the abdomen, arms, shoulder, neck and face. The course included lecture, instructor demonstration and extensive supervised partner practice. Emphasis is placed on proper body mechanics, safe draping, effective pressure application and clear transitions so therapists can confidently integrate upper-body Shiatsu techniques into table based massage sessions within their scope of practice. About the Instructor: Michael Corcoran, LMT is a graduate of CNWSMT and has been practicing since 2011. He has also been helping out in the classrooms and special events for the school since 2014. His varied educational background and credentials include: Adirondack Community College, Schenectady Community College, Thai Massage for the Table Certification, Traditional Thai Massage Certification, Ashiatsu Certification and Sacroiliac Joint Specialist Certification. Michael Corcoran is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider and is also sponsored by NCBTMB to teach New York LMT's continuing education that is accepted by the state of NY for license renewal.
